What is etiquette?

Etiquette is the set of conventional rules of personal behaviour in polite society, usually in the form of an ethical code that defines the expected and accepted social behaviours that accord with the conventions and standards observed by a society, a social class, or a social group. There is a misconception that etiquette is only for people in high society  and not for ‘regular’ people.  This is far from reality.

In order to thrive in today’s society, etiquette and social skills as more important than ever. There is nothing that one does in their everyday life that is not impacted to some degree. The interactions with work colleagues, business partners, children, friends, clients, etc, requires a degree of etiquette. Etiquette is a social equaliser.
